M. Chapoutier Côte-Rôtie Neve is sourced from a steep single vineyard on schist and gneiss and ranks among the rarest parcel wines of the domaine. Planted entirely to syrah, the site yields grapes of great aromatic purity and tension. The bouquet reveals red and black berries, violets, iron and charcoal notes, with hints of smoked meat and graphite. On the palate Neve is compact, vertical and precise, with chiselled, fine-grained tannins and a cool, mineral core. The long, savoury, slightly saline finish makes it a demanding but rewarding partner for beef, lamb, game and richly flavoured stews.
