Château Coutet Barsac 1cc. 2019 0,375l

Château Coutet is a historic Premier Grand Cru Classé estate in Barsac and a benchmark for noble sweet wines from Sauternes-Barsac. The 35–38 hectares of vines grow on a mix of sand, red clay and limestone and are planted mainly with Sémillon, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc and a little Muscadelle. The grapes are picked by hand in several passes to select perfectly botrytised berries, and the wine is then aged 16–18 months in barriques. The bouquet is packed with white flowers, citrus, apricot, pineapple, honey and vanilla. On the palate Château Coutet is rich and creamy yet lifted by vibrant acidity, finishing very long with the signature knife-edge freshness of Barsac.

Eighteen months in French oak add extra complexity and finely toasted depth to this sweet wine.

Château Coutet

In Barsac at the heart of Sauternes, Château Coutet blends deep history with precision. Sémillon leads, supported by Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, and the cooler limestone‑and‑clay soils of the appellation give the sweet‑wine style a firm, clear architecture. As a 1855 Premier Cru Classé, the estate is one of the region’s iconic benchmarks....

The grape variety: Sémillon

Sémillon is a classic white grape of Bordeaux and Sauternes, also famous in Australia's Hunter Valley. It offers citrus, wax, honey, texture and ageing potential.

It pairs with shellfish, roast chicken, creamy sauces, mushrooms, soft cheese, foie gras and fruit desserts. A refined white grape for dry and sweet wines. Sémillon
