Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the most iconic Second Growths of Saint-Julien, facing the Gironde on a ridge of deep Gunzian gravel. Its 75 hectares of vines are planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, drawing concentration and finesse from the poor, stony soils. The bouquet delivers cassis, blackberry and black cherry wrapped in notes of violet, cedar and graphite. On the palate Ducru-Beaucaillou is dense yet silky, combining power with great precision. Ripe, finely chiselled tannins and vibrant acidity carry a very long, mineral and supremely elegant finish.
In St.Julien, close to the Gironde estuary, Château Ducru Beaucaillou embodies more than three centuries of château history. A key turning point came in 1720 through a marriage that consolidated the vineyard; in 1795 Bertrand Ducru gave the estate its name, and its status as a Second Growth in 1855 cemented its place among Saint‑Julien’s benchmarks.
