Château d'Yquem Sauternes 1cc. 2021 0,75l

Château d’Yquem, the sole Premier Cru Supérieur of Sauternes, is a benchmark for noble sweet wines. Its vineyards crown the highest point of the appellation and sit on a patchwork of sandy-gravel and clay-limestone soils planted mainly with Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes are picked in multiple passes, berry by berry, once noble rot has perfectly developed, then the wine is aged for an extended period in oak. The bouquet is intensely complex, with candied citrus, apricot, peach and exotic fruit layered with honey, spice and subtle smokiness. On the palate d’Yquem is rich, silky and profound, balanced by vibrant acidity and an extraordinarily long, mouth-coating finish.

Twenty-four months in new French oak combine intense sweetness with fine spice and great depth.

Château d'Yquem

At the heart of Sauternes, on the Barsac side of the valley, Château d'Yquem stands as the only Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 classification—an icon of noble sweet Bordeaux. Warm, dry topsoils of gravel and flat pebbles sit over clay with water reserves, a combination that supports concentration while enabling the delicate botrytis cycle....

The grape variety: Sémillon

Sémillon is a classic white grape of Bordeaux and Sauternes, also famous in Australia's Hunter Valley. It offers citrus, wax, honey, texture and ageing potential.

It pairs with shellfish, roast chicken, creamy sauces, mushrooms, soft cheese, foie gras and fruit desserts. A refined white grape for dry and sweet wines. Sémillon
