Château Guiraud Sauternes 1cc. 2016 0,75l

Château Guiraud is a First Growth Sauternes estate farming about 85 hectares of vines planted mainly with Sémillon and a large share of Sauvignon Blanc. Most of the vineyard lies on sandy gravel with deeper layers of gravel, limestone and clay that favour the development of noble rot. Guiraud was the first of the classified growths to be fully certified organic, and picking is carried out by hand in several passes. The wine offers aromas of candied citrus, apricot and exotic fruit wrapped in honey and gentle spice. On the palate it is rich and silky yet finely balanced, with vibrant acidity, intense sweetness and a very long, elegant Sauternes finish.

The grape variety: Sémillon

Sémillon is a classic white grape of Bordeaux and Sauternes, also famous in Australia's Hunter Valley. It offers citrus, wax, honey, texture and ageing potential.

It pairs with shellfish, roast chicken, creamy sauces, mushrooms, soft cheese, foie gras and fruit desserts. A refined white grape for dry and sweet wines. Sémillon
