Chateau Mont Redon Châteauneuf du Pape Le Plateau 2016 1,5l
Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Plateau is sourced from the estate’s highest plots on the stone-strewn plateau. The blend is based mainly on grenache with a significant share of syrah and is aged in a mix of used and new barrels. The bouquet opens with black cherry, blackberry and cassis, followed by mocha, tobacco, graphite, garrigue herbs and a hint of smoke. On the palate Le Plateau is dense and firmly structured yet notably elegant, with ripe, tightly knit tannins and layered spice. A long finish with mineral and savoury notes marks it out as a powerful, refined Châteauneuf-du-Pape to serve with game, lamb, slow-cooked beef and rich stews.
In the southern Rhône, on the heights of Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape, Château Mont‑Redon anchors the identity of Côtes du Rhône Sud. Records reach back to 1344; after phylloxera, Henri Plantin revived the estate in 1923, betting on a plateau that was then little more than scrub and stones....

The grape variety: Grenache Noir
Grenache Noir is a Mediterranean red grape with strawberry, raspberry, cherry, plum, herbs and spice. It is typically juicy, rounded, softly tannic and often warm in body.
It pairs with lamb, grilled food, tapas, ratatouille, pizza, pasta, pork and aged cheese, ranging from light fruity reds to deep old-vine wines.
