Château Montus

Château Montus Prestige,Madiran 1999 0,75l

Montus Prestige is the most concentrated expression of Château Montus and was one of the first Madiran wines made entirely from Tannat. The grapes come from old vines on steep, warm slopes covered in large pebbles over clay, yielding naturally low crops. After rigorous sorting they are harvested in small crates, macerated for an extended period and aged 14–16 months in mostly new French oak. The bouquet offers very dark fruit, blackberry and black cherry with licorice, clove, tobacco and toasted notes. On the palate Montus Prestige is dense, firmly structured and powerful, with abundant but ripe tannins, layered spice and a long, complex finish that promises excellent ageing.

The grape variety: Tannat

Tannat produces dark, full-bodied red wines with blackberry fruit, firm tannins, spice and savory depth. The style can be rustic and traditional or polished and modern.

It is a strong choice with grilled meats, stews, hard cheeses and barbecue, and it is especially exciting for anyone looking for powerful reds with character. Tannat
