| Yves Cuilleron Côte-Rôtie Madinière comes from Syrah vines in the northern part of the appellation, on steep south to south-east facing schist slopes. The vines are farmed sustainably, harvested by hand and traditionally vinified with an extended maceration. A period of ageing in oak barrels brings structure and polish without masking the fruit. The bouquet combines red and dark berries, cassis and blackberry with violet, smoky notes, bacon and a hint of clove. On the palate Madinière is juicy and full, with ripe fruit, velvety tannins and well-integrated acidity that keeps everything fresh. A harmonious, moreish Côte-Rôtie that works beautifully with beef, duck, roasted vegetables or richly flavoured oven dishes. | |
