Weingut Gernot & Heike Heinrich Chardonnay Leithaberg DAC 2022 0,75l

Gernot Heinrich’s Chardonnay Leithaberg comes from biodynamically farmed vineyards on the limestone- and schist-rich slopes of the Leithagebirge. Hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation and mature on the fine lees in large oak casks. The bouquet combines ripe citrus, yellow apple and pear with herbal notes, smoke and a touch of flint. On the palate the wine is taut, juicy and precise, carried by vibrant acidity, salty minerality and a gentle creaminess. An expressive white that pairs beautifully with pan-fried fish, seafood or refined vegetable dishes.

Maturation on natural lees in large oak casks gives the Chardonnay structure without losing its saline, mineral freshness.

Weingut Gernot & Heike Heinrich

In Gols, Burgenland—between the gravelly Parndorfer Platte and the limestone slopes of the Leithagebirge—Weingut Gernot & Heike Heinrich has pursued one idea since 1990: wine as a faithful translation of place. What began with one hectare grew into an estate known for letting soils and seasons set the tone....

The grape variety: Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a globally renowned white grape from Burgundy, capable of crisp, mineral, creamy or oak-aged styles. Its flavours range from citrus and apple to peach, butter, nuts and toast.

It pairs with seafood, chicken, creamy pasta, mushrooms, lobster and soft cheeses. Chardonnay is exciting because it can be beautifully simple or profoundly complex.
