Claus Preisinger Heideboden rot 2018 0,75l

Heideboden Rot from Claus Preisinger is a biodynamically grown blend of blaufränkisch, merlot and zweigelt sourced from vineyards on the eastern shores of Lake Neusiedl. Warm gravel and sandy soils yield ripe, juicy grapes with a distinct mineral edge. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with ambient yeasts, and the wine is matured mainly in used wooden barrels so that structure and finesse develop without dominating oak. The bouquet shows dark berries, ripe cherry and damson alongside herbal spice and gentle toast. On the palate Heideboden Rot is succulent, smooth and vibrant, with ripe, fine-grained tannins and uplifting acidity. It is a highly versatile partner for grilled meats, roasts, pasta dishes and contemporary vegetable-focused cuisine.

Ageing in used wood underlines the juicy fruit and keeps this Heideboden red approachable and lively.

Claus Preisinger

On the north shore of Lake Neusiedl, in Gols, Claus Preisinger has, since the early 2000s, pursued wines that reward attention more than ornament. Farmed biodynamically since 2006 (Respekt‑Biodyn), his vineyards form a Pannonian patchwork of sandy loam, limestone, slate and quartz across countless small parcels....

The grape variety: Zweigelt

Zweigelt is Austria''s leading red grape, producing cherry-scented wines with soft tannins, fresh acidity and gentle spice. It is a crossing of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent.

The variety is appealing because it is juicy, versatile and food-friendly. Pair Zweigelt with roast chicken, pork, schnitzel, burgers, mushrooms and mild cheeses.
