Werner Achs Reserve 2022 1,5l

Werner Achs Reserve is the flagship cuvée of the Gols-based estate and is produced only in outstanding vintages. It is built mainly on Blaufränkisch and Merlot from top sites around Gols and matured in carefully selected French barriques. On the nose it reveals dark berries, black cherry and plum, supported by fine toast notes, cocoa, tobacco and herbal spice. On the palate the Reserve is dense and powerful, with concentrated fruit, firm ripe tannins and lively acidity. The structure is multi-layered and the finish very long, echoing chocolate, spice and a stony mineral touch. An ageworthy red wine from the Neusiedlersee region that matches perfectly with rich meat dishes, game or mature hard cheeses.

Long barrique ageing brings fine oak spice, depth and firm structure to the Blaufränkisch-Merlot cuvée.

Blaufränkisch is a Central European red grape known for dark cherry, pepper, fresh acidity and structured tannins. It is especially important in Austria and Hungary.

The grape is exciting because it combines elegance with savoury spice. Pair Blaufränkisch with duck, pork, lamb, goulash, mushrooms, sausages and hard cheeses.
