Weingut Hans & Anita Nittnaus Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC Lange Ohn 2021 0,75l

Blaufränkisch Lange Ohn from Anita & Hans Nittnaus is sourced from a stony hillside close to Lake Neusiedl, where calcareous soils and cooling breezes allow slow ripening. In the glass it shows a deep, brilliant ruby colour. The bouquet combines ripe cherry and dark berry fruit with herbal nuances, a touch of tobacco and spicy mineral notes. On the palate the wine is dense and tightly knit, with firm structure, ripe tannins and vibrant acidity. Marked stony minerality gives depth and drives the very long finish. A powerful single-vineyard Blaufränkisch from Leithaberg that pairs well with game, braised beef, hearty stews and mature hard cheeses.

Twenty-two months in 500-litre casks give the Blaufränkisch depth, length and a finely spicy outline.

Weingut Hans & Anita Nittnaus

In Gols by Lake Neusiedl, where Pannonian warmth is tempered by steady breezes, Weingut Hans & Anita Nittnaus has shaped Burgenland red wine with rare consistency. The family’s roots reach back to 1684; when Hans (“John”) and Anita took over in 1985, they pushed the estate toward site-driven ambition and careful detail....

The grape variety: Blaufränkisch

Blaufränkisch is a Central European red grape known for dark cherry, pepper, fresh acidity and structured tannins. It is especially important in Austria and Hungary.

The grape is exciting because it combines elegance with savoury spice. Pair Blaufränkisch with duck, pork, lamb, goulash, mushrooms, sausages and hard cheeses.
