Old vines around Deutschkreutz grow on clay and limestone soils that are farmed organically. The nose reveals dark cherry, plum, a touch of orange zest and tobacco spice. On the palate the wine is dense, juicy and clearly structured, with fine, supporting tannins. Ageing in used oak casks highlights herbal notes and cool minerality without masking the grape’s character. Ripe fruit and precise acidity create a long, flowing finish. This is a distinctive Blaufränkisch that pairs beautifully with braised dishes, game or mature hard cheeses.
