Glatzer St. Laurent Alte Reben 2022 0,75l

St. Laurent Alte Reben from Walter Glatzer originates from the Altenberg vineyard in Carnuntum, where old vines rooted in limestone-rich Danube gravel and loam deliver naturally low yields. After extended maceration the wine matures in partly new barriques, gaining depth and structure. The bouquet reveals dark berry compote, ripe plums, preserved cherries and hints of caramel and nougat, framed by subtle toasted notes. On the palate it is concentrated, juicy and yet surprisingly graceful, with velvety tannins and a refreshing, supporting acidity. A long, gently spicy finish makes it an excellent partner for game, hearty braised dishes and flavourful cheeses.

Fifteen months in used barriques gives the St. Laurent fine maturity, structure and subtle oak depth.

Glatzer

In Göttlesbrunn, at the heart of Carnuntum, the wines of Glatzer are built on red-wine energy and a clear sense of place. Since the estate’s modern rise in 1987, sites such as Rosenberg, Bärnreiser and Haidacker have translated Danube gravel and loess into structure....
