Hannes Haiden Blaufränkisch Kastanie 2023 0,75l

Blaufränkisch Kastanie from Hannes Haiden is sourced from selected Leithaberg vineyards whose grapes are carefully handpicked. After fermentation the wine spends several months in chestnut barrels, which lend a distinctive spicy character. The bouquet reveals dark cherry, blackberry, forest berries and a subtle smoky note. On the palate it is juicy, medium-bodied and vibrant, with cool dark-berry fruit and fine-grained tannins. Clove, pepper and gentle herbal tones accompany the long, mineral finish. A versatile food wine for beef, game birds or hearty pasta dishes.

Five months in chestnut barrels give the Blaufränkisch a distinctive structure and a dense, layered expression.

The grape variety: Blaufränkisch

Blaufränkisch is a Central European red grape known for dark cherry, pepper, fresh acidity and structured tannins. It is especially important in Austria and Hungary.

The grape is exciting because it combines elegance with savoury spice. Pair Blaufränkisch with duck, pork, lamb, goulash, mushrooms, sausages and hard cheeses.
