Kollwentz Tatschler Chardonnay 2023 0,75l

From the Tatschler vineyard comes a Chardonnay of real pedigree, depth and quiet authority. This protected southeastern site on the Leithagebirge, shaped by crystalline primary rock and shallow limestone, lays the foundation for a powerful yet precise style. Kollwentz handles selected, fully ripe grapes with great care and ferments as well as matures the wine in small oak barrels. That approach gives it both breadth and polish, carried by a fine mineral line. The wine feels layered, elegant and composed, with the understated grandeur that marks serious Chardonnay origins. It is a brilliant choice for discerning drinkers and a superb companion to seafood, pasta and light meat.

Fermentation and twelve months of barrique ageing give Chardonnay Tatschler power, elegance and fine oak nuances.

Kollwentz

On the south-facing slopes of the Leithagebirge above Großhöflein, Weingut Kollwentz Römerhof has long treated estate bottling as a principle: own vineyards, own grapes, own wine. The place is steeped in time—top sites such as Steinzeiler and Tatschler appear in records as early as 1569/1570, and the family’s documented story at the Römerhof reaches back to 1775....

The grape variety: Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a globally renowned white grape from Burgundy, capable of crisp, mineral, creamy or oak-aged styles. Its flavours range from citrus and apple to peach, butter, nuts and toast.

It pairs with seafood, chicken, creamy pasta, mushrooms, lobster and soft cheeses. Chardonnay is exciting because it can be beautifully simple or profoundly complex.
