Moric Blaufränkisch Ried Kirchberg Lutzmannsburg 2021 0,75l

Moric Blaufränkisch Ried Kirchberg Lutzmannsburg comes from a steep, limestone-rich site on the Lutzmannsburg plateau. It pours a deep ruby-garnet colour. The bouquet is refined and complex, showing blackberries, blueberries and dark cherries alongside hints of raspberry, clove, forest floor and herbal spice. On the palate the wine is cool, juicy and very elegant, with finely polished, silky tannins. Vibrant acidity and a pronounced chalky minerality give the wine lift and precision. The finish is long, focused and savoury, with red-berry fruit and spicy, mineral notes. This single-vineyard Blaufränkisch is best enjoyed after some aeration and pairs beautifully with lamb, braised beef or sophisticated vegetarian dishes.

Moric

On the limestone edge of the Leithaberg, near Großhöflein, Moric rewrote what Burgenland can mean in a glass. Since the early 2000s Roland Velich has been hunting for old-vine parcels with unmistakable origin – from windy slopes on Leithakalk to venerable Blaufränkisch sites in Mittelburgenland, where deep roots and tight spacing naturally keep yields in check....

The grape variety: Blaufränkisch

Blaufränkisch is a Central European red grape known for dark cherry, pepper, fresh acidity and structured tannins. It is especially important in Austria and Hungary.

The grape is exciting because it combines elegance with savoury spice. Pair Blaufränkisch with duck, pork, lamb, goulash, mushrooms, sausages and hard cheeses.
