Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte Pessac Léognan rouge 2019 0,75l
Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte is the red second wine of Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Pessac-Léognan, sourced from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards. Cabernet Sauvignon plays the leading role, supported by Merlot and other Bordelais varieties. The nose offers pure cassis, ripe black cherry, graphite, tobacco leaf and a touch of dried herbs. On the palate the wine is medium to full-bodied, with velvety, ripe tannins and juicy, focused fruit. Lively acidity and the estate’s hallmark smoky-mineral character give energy and length. A characterful Bordeaux that drinks well in its youth yet has the structure to evolve further alongside grilled meats, lamb or hearty vegetarian dishes.
On the gravelly soils of Pessac-Léognan, where pine forest meets the historic Graves plateau, Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte captures the estate’s precision in a more immediate register. Picked from the single-block Günz gravel terrace, each lot is double-sorted, gently fermented and raised with the same discipline as the Grand Vin, supported by the château’s in-house cooperage....
The Great Vertical Tasting: A wine through the mirror of time.
Anyone who compares wine across several vintages discovers its development in a particularly impressive way. A vertical tasting reveals how style, maturity, structure and aromas change over time – and helps to find the right vintage for personal taste or a special occasion.
The grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is a world-famous red grape producing dark, structured wines with cassis, blackberry, cedar, firm tannins and ageing potential.
The variety is exciting because it combines power with recognisable character. Pair Cabernet Sauvignon with steak, roast beef, lamb, venison, burgers, mushrooms and hard cheeses.
