Luigi Calissano Barolo Riserva Speciale 1968 0,75l

Luigi Calissano Barolo Riserva Speciale comes from a historic winery in Alba that has been closely linked to Barolo since the nineteenth century. This mature Riserva shows the refined, classical face of Nebbiolo, with garnet colour and a delicate brick rim. The nose reveals dried rose petals, tar, leather, undergrowth and sweet spices. On the palate the Barolo is elegant and deep, with finely resolved tannins and lively acidity. Tertiary notes of dried fruit, tobacco and mushroom shape the long, complex finish. A collectible Barolo for contemplative moments, best enjoyed with aged cheese or truffle dishes.

The grape variety: Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo produces pale but powerful red wines with cherry, rose, spice, high acidity and firm tannins.

It is especially famous in Barolo and Barbaresco and pairs beautifully with braised meat, truffle dishes, mushrooms, game and aged cheese. Nebbiolo
