Nehrer Hummelpiel 2020 0,75l

Hummelpiel from Nehrer is a characterful red blend sourced from limestone‑rich hillside vineyards around St. Georgen. In the glass it shows deep ruby with violet highlights. The nose evokes dark forest berry jam, blackberry and sweet cherry, layered with cardamom, tobacco and refined oak spice. On the palate the wine is juicy, dense and still remarkably elegant, supported by firm structure, fresh acidity and fine‑grained ripe tannins. Extended maturation in large wooden casks adds complexity and a creamy flow. The finish lingers with blackberry, milk chocolate and a savoury smoky touch. A multi‑layered partner for braised dishes, spicy curries or pink roasted beef.

Twenty-one months in 500-litre casks and barriques give the cuvée dense structure, fine spice and a long finish.

Nehrer

On the southeast slopes of the Leithagebirge, in St. Georgen near Eisenstadt, Nehrer bottles the unmistakable signature of Leithaberg. The family estate shifted to full-time winegrowing in 1962; today Johannes Nehrer leads the third generation, farming around 20 hectares organically and aiming for wines that reflect origin without compromise....
