Weingut Hans & Anita Nittnaus Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC Jungenberg 2019 1,5l

Blaufränkisch Jungenberg from Anita & Hans Nittnaus is grown on the steep terraces of the Joiser Jungenberg, where limestone and slate shape a distinctive terroir. The elevated site above Lake Neusiedl brings cool nights and a long ripening period, giving the wine finesse and depth. On the nose it offers dark cherry, blackberry and forest berries, alongside violet, graphite and savoury mineral spice. The palate is dense and powerful yet silky, supported by precise acidity and fine-grained tannins. Layers of fruit and stony minerality create impressive length and a gently salty finish. A complex single-vineyard Blaufränkisch from Leithaberg that shines with braised beef, lamb, game dishes and flavourful modern cuisine.

Ageing in 500-litre casks gives the Blaufränkisch a calm oak frame and supports its finesse-driven structure.

Weingut Hans & Anita Nittnaus

In Gols by Lake Neusiedl, where Pannonian warmth is tempered by steady breezes, Weingut Hans & Anita Nittnaus has shaped Burgenland red wine with rare consistency. The family’s roots reach back to 1684; when Hans (“John”) and Anita took over in 1985, they pushed the estate toward site-driven ambition and careful detail....

The grape variety: Blaufränkisch

Blaufränkisch is a Central European red grape known for dark cherry, pepper, fresh acidity and structured tannins. It is especially important in Austria and Hungary.

The grape is exciting because it combines elegance with savoury spice. Pair Blaufränkisch with duck, pork, lamb, goulash, mushrooms, sausages and hard cheeses.
