Terra del Varo is the Irpinia Aglianico DOC from Tenuta Cavalier Pepe and clearly reflects the robust red wine tradition of Campania. The grapes come from hilly vineyards with limestone and volcanic soils that give Aglianico structure, freshness and minerality. On the nose it reveals dark cherry, blackberry and plum alongside hints of liquorice, black pepper and dried herbs. On the palate the wine is juicy and dense, with firm yet ripe tannins and lively acidity. Touches of cocoa, tobacco and earthy tones accompany the long, spicy finish. Terra del Varo pairs beautifully with grilled meats, lamb, stews and hearty pasta dishes with ragù.
