Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia Masseto Vertikale 2006-2010-2011 2,25

This Masseto vertical brings together twelve releases of the legendary Merlot grown in a single vineyard on the hills of Bolgheri. The vines are rooted in the estate’s famous blue grey clay, which imparts power, depth and a fine saline minerality. Across the bottles the wines display ripe black fruit, violets, Mediterranean herbs and graphite with nuances of cocoa and tobacco. On the palate they combine great density with silk polished tannins and a lively acidity that shifts subtly from year to year. With age the wines gain further complexity, developing truffle and forest floor notes and an impressive, lingering finish. This collection is aimed at enthusiasts who wish to follow the evolution of Masseto over many years and compare vintages on truly special occasions.

Long barrique ageing and bottle maturation bring together density, ripe Merlot fruit and complex spice.
