Yves Cuilleron Cote Rotie Madiniere 2020 0,75l

Yves Cuilleron Côte-Rôtie Madinière comes from Syrah vines in the northern part of the appellation, on steep south to south-east facing schist slopes. The vines are farmed sustainably, harvested by hand and traditionally vinified with an extended maceration. A period of ageing in oak barrels brings structure and polish without masking the fruit. The bouquet combines red and dark berries, cassis and blackberry with violet, smoky notes, bacon and a hint of clove. On the palate Madinière is juicy and full, with ripe fruit, velvety tannins and well-integrated acidity that keeps everything fresh. A harmonious, moreish Côte-Rôtie that works beautifully with beef, duck, roasted vegetables or richly flavoured oven dishes.

Ageing in French oak rounds out the Syrah fruit and brings together spice, freshness and harmonious tannins.

Yves Cuilleron

In the northern Côtes du Rhône, around Chavanay and Ampuis, Yves Cuilleron stands for “haute‑couture” viticulture: terrace by terrace, plot by plot, matched to Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. The family domaine was founded in 1920; Yves took over in 1987, expanded the holdings and built a modern cellar to pursue truly tailor‑made vinifications. In 1996 he also helped launch the revival of the ancient Seyssuel hillsides with Les Vins de Vienne....

The grape variety: Syrah / Shiraz

Syrah, also called Shiraz, is a dark-skinned red grape known for blackberry, plum, pepper, smoke, spice and firm structure. It ranges from elegant Rhône styles to rich Australian Shiraz.

It pairs with lamb, beef, venison, barbecue, sausages, mushrooms, olives and hard cheese. A bold, savoury red for lovers of depth and spice. Syrah / Shiraz
