Château Clarke in Listrac-Médoc has been owned by the Edmond de Rothschild family since the 1970s and today covers around 50 hectares of vines. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon dominate the plantings, rooted in clay-limestone soils that offer excellent drainage and help the vines cope with dry summers. The grapes are picked and vinified plot by plot in stainless-steel vats, followed by ageing in French oak barrels. The bouquet reveals ripe plum, black cherry and cassis with hints of cedar, tobacco and gentle toast. On the palate Château Clarke is dense yet supple, with ripe tannins, refreshing acidity and a long, harmonious finish – a powerful but approachable Listrac-Médoc with fine ageing potential.
Around 16 to 18 months in French oak add volume, fine spice and a supple structure.
