Château Figeac Saint Emilion 1gcc. 2021 0,75l

Château Figeac is a Premier Grand Cru Classé estate in Saint-Émilion, set on three gravel outcrops at the edge of the limestone plateau. Its forty or so hectares of vines are planted in an unusually Cabernet-driven mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The combination of Gunzian gravel and clay subsoils brings both left-bank structure and right-bank suppleness. The bouquet offers red and black berries, cassis and plum with violet, fresh herbs and cedar. On the palate Figeac is poised and refined, with finely woven tannins, juicy fruit and a cool, graphite-like minerality. The finish is long, savoury and elegant, underlining the estate’s singular style within Saint-Émilion.

Ageing in new oak for 15 to 18 months frames the fresh, elegant Cabernet character with fine structure.

Château Figeac

In Saint‑Émilion, Château‑Figeac stands among the region’s historic names; the Manoncourt family has shaped it since 1892, and in 2022 it was elevated to Premier Grand Cru Classé A. Unusually for the Right Bank, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc hold a major role alongside Merlot....

The grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is a world-famous red grape producing dark, structured wines with cassis, blackberry, cedar, firm tannins and ageing potential.

The variety is exciting because it combines power with recognisable character. Pair Cabernet Sauvignon with steak, roast beef, lamb, venison, burgers, mushrooms and hard cheeses. Cabernet Sauvignon
