Château Lafite Rothschild Pauillac 1cc. 2019 1,5l

Château Lafite Rothschild is one of the iconic First Growths of Pauillac, with about 112 hectares of vines. The vineyards lie on deep gravel mounds with limestone subsoils around the château, on the Carruades plateau and in selected plots in neighbouring Saint-Estèphe. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the plantings, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the average vine age comfortably exceeds thirty years. The bouquet is subtle and cool, showing cassis, red berries and plum with violet, cedar, tobacco and a distinctive, iron-tinged minerality. On the palate Lafite Rothschild is both silky and powerful, with ultra-fine tannins, precise acidity and a very long, layered finish. It is widely regarded as the benchmark for graceful, ageworthy Pauillac.

Eighteen months in new oak barrels give this Lafite depth, precision and a noble, finely structured oak frame.

Château Lafite Rothschild

Few addresses in Pauillac feel as foundational as Château Lafite Rothschild: noted as a wine place as early as the 13th century and raised to the summit of the 1855 classification. Since 1868, the Rothschild family has shaped an estate of roughly 112 hectares at the northern end of the Médoc, where deep gravel rises favour Cabernet Sauvignon....

The grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is a world-famous red grape producing dark, structured wines with cassis, blackberry, cedar, firm tannins and ageing potential.

The variety is exciting because it combines power with recognisable character. Pair Cabernet Sauvignon with steak, roast beef, lamb, venison, burgers, mushrooms and hard cheeses. Cabernet Sauvignon
