Château Phélan Ségur Saint Estèphe cb 2021 0,75l

Château Phélan Ségur is a leading estate in Saint-Estèphe, with vineyards on clay-gravel soils close to Montrose and Calon Ségur. The grand vin is based on cabernet sauvignon and merlot with small amounts of cabernet franc and petit verdot. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum are joined by notes of licorice, herbs and gentle smokiness. On the palate the wine is medium- to full-bodied, with firm yet ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a cool, mineral finish. It is an ageworthy, elegant Saint-Estèphe that pairs beautifully with braised dishes, roast beef, lamb and savoury meat cuisine. With a few years of bottle age, its texture becomes even more velvety and complex.

Ageing in 500-litre oak barrels and stainless steel tanks gives the wine structure, freshness and a precise mineral line.

Château Phélan Ségur

Overlooking the Gironde in the village of Saint‑Estèphe, Château Phélan Ségur traces its roots to the early 19th century, when Irishman Bernard O’Phelan shaped the estate into one of the appellation’s defining properties. In the late 1860s the stately château rose as a landmark of Bordeaux’s grand era....

The grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is a world-famous red grape producing dark, structured wines with cassis, blackberry, cedar, firm tannins and ageing potential.

The variety is exciting because it combines power with recognisable character. Pair Cabernet Sauvignon with steak, roast beef, lamb, venison, burgers, mushrooms and hard cheeses. Cabernet Sauvignon
