Cheval des Andes Mendoza 2019 0,75l

Cheval des Andes is a joint project between Terrazas de los Andes and Château Cheval Blanc and has become an icon among Andean blends. The grapes come from high-altitude vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley, where cool nights preserve tension and aromatics. The wine combines malbec with cabernet sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties and is aged in French oak. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry and violets mingle with graphite, tobacco, cocoa and fine herbal spice. On the palate Cheval des Andes is silky, layered and powerful, with precise tannins and vibrant acidity. A long, spicy and mineral finish confirms it as a world-class Argentine red for fine cuts of beef, lamb, game and modern gastronomy.

The grape variety: Malbec

Malbec, also called Côt in France, is known for deep colour, plum, blackberry, black cherry, violet and spicy notes. Styles range from smooth and fruit-driven to powerful and structured.

It pairs especially well with steak, grilled meats, lamb, braised dishes, mushrooms and mature cheese. Malbec is exciting because it shows both Argentine richness and the firmer, traditional character of Cahors. Malbec
