Clos Triguedina from the Lot Valley is a benchmark Cahors produced by the Baldès family, who farm terraced vineyards on limestone and clay. The blend is driven by malbec with merlot and tannat adding depth and spice, and all grapes are carefully harvested and sorted by hand. Fermentation on the skins and ageing in French oak barrels give the wine structure and complexity. The bouquet offers blackberry, black cherry and plum alongside violet, liquorice, peppermint and a touch of vanilla. On the palate Clos Triguedina is full-bodied, savoury and refined, with dense, ripe tannins and vibrant acidity. A long finish of dark fruit, cocoa and gentle oak makes it a natural partner for roast beef, lamb, game and mature cheeses.
