Gager Blaufränkisch 2023 0,75l

Gager Blaufränkisch comes from the heart of Mittelburgenland and shows why the area is known as Blaufränkischland. The bouquet opens with dark berries, sour cherry and a hint of violet, rounded by gentle spice and a touch of nougat. On the palate the wine is juicy and medium bodied, with clear, fruit driven flavours and supple tannins. A fresh, well integrated acidity keeps everything lively and easy to drink. Subtle herbal and peppery notes extend the smooth, dry finish. Served slightly chilled, it is a versatile red for pasta, poultry, cold cuts or simply a relaxed glass in good company.

Ageing in stainless steel and barrel preserves the fruit-driven Blaufränkisch character and gently integrates the structure.

Gager

Between Pannonian warmth and cooling night air, Deutschkreutz is home to Weingut Gager in the heart of Mittelburgenland, where Blaufränkisch speaks most clearly. Founded as a family venture in 1984, the estate built its reputation on serious reds and later anchored its ambitions with a modern cellar and a deep barrique library....

The grape variety: Blaufränkisch

Blaufränkisch is a Central European red grape known for dark cherry, pepper, fresh acidity and structured tannins. It is especially important in Austria and Hungary.

The grape is exciting because it combines elegance with savoury spice. Pair Blaufränkisch with duck, pork, lamb, goulash, mushrooms, sausages and hard cheeses.
