Giefing Rusterberg rot 2020 0,75l

Rusterberg Rot from Weingut Giefing is a powerful cuvée of Blaufränkisch, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from prime hillside vineyards around Rust and are harvested by hand. The bouquet offers black cherry, forest berries, elderberry compote, dark chocolate and subtle toasted notes. On the palate the wine is full‑bodied, firm and densely woven, with noble, tightly knit tannins. Juicy fruit is supported by finely chiselled acidity and a long finish with nougat‑like sweetness. A characterful red with excellent ageing potential that pairs beautifully with hearty meat dishes, game and rich braises.

Ageing in new barriques gives the cuvée toasty notes, depth and a powerful frame.

Giefing

In the free town of Rust, Weingut Giefing ties past to present with rare ease. On the western shore of Lake Neusiedl, limestone and clay-limestone slopes meet lake air and sunlight. The estate works from a 15th‑century “Freihof” in the UNESCO-protected old centre—old stone, modern intent....

The grape variety: Blaufränkisch

Blaufränkisch is a Central European red grape known for dark cherry, pepper, fresh acidity and structured tannins. It is especially important in Austria and Hungary.

The grape is exciting because it combines elegance with savoury spice. Pair Blaufränkisch with duck, pork, lamb, goulash, mushrooms, sausages and hard cheeses.
