This Pinot Gris from the single Eichbuck parcel reveals the more ambitious side of the Kaiserstuhl. The vines grow at about 360 metres on a south-southeast exposure, combining long sunlight with cooler evenings. Loess mixed with volcanic grit shapes the site, while the vines descend from an old Alsace vineyard through massal selection. After spontaneous fermentation and malolactic conversion, the wine matures in a large cask on its full lees. Ripe yellow fruit, apple, delicate flowers and stony, smoky nuances form a layered bouquet. The palate unites depth and creamy texture with fresh tension, clear minerality and a long finish. Excellent with turbot, veal, poultry, mushrooms or mature hard cheese.

Ageing in a large wooden cask gives the wine structure, poise and clear mineral elegance.
