Pinot Noir Herrenstück by Holger Koch comes from a cool site on the Kaiserstuhl planted with fine Burgundian clones. Small, concentrated berries and careful hand picking create the base for a layered, finely spiced red. A portion of the fruit is fermented as whole berries with wild yeasts before the wine matures in wooden barrels. The bouquet shows red berries, cherry, rosehip and subtle smoky, savoury tones. On the palate the Pinot Noir is silky, juicy and full of tension, with fine grained tannins and a long, mineral driven finish. It is an excellent partner for poultry, veal, mushroom dishes and creative vegetable plates.

Eleven months in 300 and 500 L wooden casks give the wine structure, harmony and a long, juicy finish.
