Weingut Gebrüder Nittnaus Salzberg Blaufränkisch-Merlot 2020 0,75l

Salzberg Blaufränkisch-Merlot from Gebrüder Nittnaus is sourced from the Salzberg single vineyard near Gols, where calcareous, gravelly soils produce powerful, layered reds. The blend of Merlot and Blaufränkisch offers intense aromas of dark berries, black cherry and plum, joined by hints of graphite, cedar and spicy wood. On the palate the wine is complex and full-bodied yet refined, with concentrated fruit, firm ripe tannins and lively, well-integrated acidity. Cool minerality and subtle toast add further depth. The long finish recalls dark fruit, cocoa and a touch of smoke. A distinctive, age-worthy red that shines alongside beef, lamb, game and richly flavoured dishes.

Around 14 months in French barriques give Salzberg power, depth and a finely integrated oak profile.
