This cask strength bottling from the Kurayoshi Distillery comes from a single Mizunara oak cask and is released at a robust 58% ABV. The nose opens with intense oak, vanilla and caramel alongside honey, exotic spice and a hint of coconut. On the palate the whisky is concentrated and full bodied, showing spicy oak, oriental spices, soft caramel and ripe fruit. The high strength delivers plenty of power yet remains balanced by a creamy texture and sweet malt character. A long, warming finish brings lingering toffee sweetness, gentle tobacco notes and a faint smoky edge. An expressive single cask for experienced whisky lovers that really blossoms with a dash of water.
