Sancerre Chambrates Blanc from Domaine Vacheron comes from a biodynamically farmed single vineyard on limestone and red clay soils at around 350 metres altitude. In the glass this Sauvignon Blanc shows a bright, light golden colour. The nose is intricate, with lemon, kumquat and apricot alongside green apple, gooseberry, blackcurrant leaf, jasmine, fresh herbs and a hint of ginger. On the palate Chambrates is concentrated yet refined, combining juicy fruit with taut, precise acidity and a marked, saline minerality. The texture is silky and almost creamy, framed by discreet oak and a long, chalky-smoky finish. A great, ageworthy Sancerre Blanc that shines with fine fish, shellfish, sophisticated vegetable dishes or poultry in light sauces.
