Botran Roaju is a meticulously composed Guatemalan rum, created as a solera blend of spirits aged roughly between eight and twenty years. Maturation in an unusual mix of ex–American whiskey casks, medium-toasted oak, Oloroso sherry, Tawny Port and Spanish red-wine barrels results in remarkable complexity. The bouquet shows caramel, cocoa, ripe dark fruit, citrus peel and roasted coffee, alongside hints of dried fruit and polished wood. On the palate Roaju is rich and full-bodied, with flavours of toffee, black berries, plum, gentle roast notes and elegant spice. The structure is harmonious and relatively dry, leading into a long, warming, slightly toasty finish. A sophisticated sipping rum that shines neat and pairs beautifully with dark chocolate or nut-based desserts.
