Botran Ron de Guatemala No. 18 Reserva de la Familia is one of the flagship bottlings of the house, created in a solera system from rums distilled from virgin cane honey. Extended ageing in a variety of oak casks produces a particularly deep and complex flavour profile. The nose reveals vanilla, cocoa, dark caramel, roasted nuts and dark berries, with hints of maple syrup and spice. On the palate the rum is full, robust and yet refined, showing flavours of caramelised fruit, unsweetened cocoa, warming spices and ripe red berries. The texture is silky with a subtly dry touch, and the oak influence is clearly present but beautifully integrated. The finish is very long, packed with caramel, fruit and warming oak spice. A distinguished premium rum best enjoyed neat.
