This bright-gold rum from Guatemala reflects Botran's vanilla- and oak-led style. It is made from concentrated sugarcane juice rather than molasses, and the producer states that Botran rums contain no added sugar. The blend is aged for five years through the house's dynamic, Solera-adapted process. Ex-American whiskey casks and medium-toasted ex-whiskey casks are used during maturation. Botran ages its rums in the highlands of Quetzaltenango. The nose combines vanilla, toasted wood and whiskey notes, while vanilla and toasted oak lead the palate into a woody finish. The house recommends rum and cola as the signature serve.
