Gesellmann Merlot 2015 1,5l

Merlot from Gesellmann used to be the winery’s closely guarded house wine and shows how well this Bordeaux grape thrives in the warm Mittelburgenland. The vines grow on limestone sites around Deutschkreutz and are farmed organically. The bouquet is dominated by dark berries, plum and black cherry, joined by notes of chocolate, coffee and fine spice. On the palate the wine is powerful, juicy and dense, with ripe, tightly woven tannins and well-integrated acidity. Long maturation in small oak barrels adds depth and polish without making the wine heavy. An elegant Merlot that pairs perfectly with braised meats, lamb or richly seasoned pasta dishes.
