Grassl Philipp Reserve 2019 0,75l

Granito del Cadalso comes from the Sierra de Gredos near Madrid and is made from 100% Garnacha. The vines grow on sandy, granitic soils around the village of Cadalso de los Vidrios, many between 20 and 70 years old. Hand harvesting and native-yeast fermentation in concrete tanks, with around two weeks of maceration, give a pure, unadorned expression of the terroir. The bouquet offers red berries, cherry, blood orange, wild herbs and a hint of bay leaf. On the palate the wine is juicy and medium-bodied yet remarkably fine, with chalky tannins and vibrant freshness. A characterful, contemporary Garnacha that shines slightly chilled with tapas, grilled vegetables or roast poultry.

Barrique ageing gives the mature cuvée structure, depth and elegant, mature spice.

Grassl Philipp

In Göttlesbrunn, in Carnuntum, the estate behind Grassl Philipp is a third-generation family cellar that wears understatement like a credo. Vineyards such as Bärnreiser and Schüttenberg sit on gravel, limestone and loess, shaping wines that feel drawn from the hillside rather than designed....

The grape variety: Merlot

Merlot is a famous red grape known for plum, black cherry, soft tannins and a smooth, rounded palate. It is central to Bordeaux and widely planted worldwide.
