Grenache Blanc
Grenache Blanc, known in Spain as Garnacha Blanca and in Catalonia as Garnatxa Blanca, is the white-berried form of the Grenache family. It is important in southern France and northern Spain, especially in warm Mediterranean regions. Garnacha Blanca is the Spanish form and Garnatxa Blanca the Catalan form; White Grenache is the plain English translation, but Grenache Blanc is the most familiar international name. The wines are usually dry and medium to full-bodied, with pear, apple, citrus, herbs and a rounded texture. Careful winemaking is important, as the grape can become broad if freshness is not preserved.
