Rote Cuvée Heideboden from Gebrüder Nittnaus blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zweigelt grown on the warm plains of the Heideboden. The wine shows a deep ruby colour with violet highlights and an inviting nose of dark berries and fully ripe cherries. Subtle spice and a touch of vanilla from oak ageing complete the bouquet. On the palate it is full-bodied and complex, with ripe fruit, well-structured tannins and balanced acidity. The texture is dense yet supple, making the wine very approachable. A spicy, fruit-driven red with a long finish that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, roasts, hearty pasta dishes and baked vegetable dishes.
Twelve months in used and new French and American oak barriques give the cuvée fullness, spice and structure.
