Heideboden Rot from Anita & Hans Nittnaus is a pannonian red blend based on Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Merlot and other local varieties from the warm sites around Lake Neusiedl. Sandy, well-drained soils in the Heideboden and careful organic farming yield ripe, healthy grapes. In the glass the wine shows deep ruby with violet highlights. The bouquet features dark berries, black cherry and plum wrapped in savoury spice, gentle toast and a hint of pepper. On the palate the cuvée is full-bodied and juicy with a smooth texture, fine tannins and balanced acidity. A fruit-driven, spicy Burgenland red with good length, perfect for grilled meats, hearty pasta dishes and Mediterranean cuisine.
