Gesellmann Bela Rex, Rote Cuvee 2021 0,75l

This red cuvée from Deutschkreutz blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot into a bold, cellar-worthy style. On the nose, subtle fine-wood spice meets tobacco nuances, black cherries and cassis. A hint of dark forest berries, citrus peel and almond-like sweetness adds allure. The palate is powerful and complex, carried by a finely drawn arc of acidity. Velvety tannins frame black-forest berry confit, ripe heart-cherry fruit and a touch of minerality. Its concentrated length makes it a refined partner for food. Serve with dark meats, game dishes or robust sauces. For lovers of structure and ageing potential, it’s a signature Burgenland red.

Maturation in barriques and small oak barrels gives this Cabernet-Merlot blend spice, structure and subtle oak influence.

Gesellmann

In the Blaufränkisch stronghold of Deutschkreutz, Weingut Gesellmann carries a long family thread—first documented in 1719—yet never static. Pannonian warmth, loam and clay give the backdrop for reds with natural grip. During the 1980s, Engelbert Gesellmann helped redefine Burgenland by planting international varieties and embracing French barriques, setting a benchmark that still echoes in the cellar....

The grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is a world-famous red grape producing dark, structured wines with cassis, blackberry, cedar, firm tannins and ageing potential.

The variety is exciting because it combines power with recognisable character. Pair Cabernet Sauvignon with steak, roast beef, lamb, venison, burgers, mushrooms and hard cheeses.
