Rote Cuvee Maximus by Josef Igler is a powerful red blend of Blaufrankisch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown on warm slopes in Mittelburgenland. Maturation in barriques adds extra depth and complexity. The bouquet shows dark forest berries, cherry, cassis, herbal spice and fine roast notes. On the palate Maximus is dense, succulent and full bodied, with generous fruit, spicy oak and firmly woven tannins. Fresh acidity keeps everything in balance and enhances drinkability. The finish is long, warm and savoury. A characterful blend for hearty meat dishes, game, mature hard cheese and festive dinners.
Twelve months in new barriques give the powerful cuvée dark spice, toasted notes and structure.
