Coastal corridors and inland valleys translate elevation, exposure and soils—from volcanic to sandstone and loam—into place-driven styles, while Oregon and Washington sharpen the picture through mesoclimate and site focus. In parallel, spirits are framed by legal “standards of identity”: bourbon must be produced in the U.S., made from a mash bill of at least 51% corn, distilled within set limits and matured in new, charred oak.
